He heard something in the night

Woke up to write it down

As the words slipped away

Coyote yipped across the lawn

So he rolled over to hold her

Kissed her and told her

About his song

She placed her head

On his shoulder

And listened to his words

The robin and the blackbird

Heard their singing and their love

The sun knew to rise for them

And not ‘cause it was dawn

Yes, the sun rose over like a lover

Who yearns and yearns

She brought him outside
